Survey 2 CAD offer a 3D Model Move service to our clients, where we import your existing 'as designed' CAD model and check it against 3D Laser Scan Data. We use the Scan Data to move your model to it's correct as built position, reflecting the conditions on site.

Survey 2 CAD offer an economical alternative to a total 3D as built model build to our clients who already have a pre-existing 3D CAD model.

Our service involves us first carrying out a 3D Laser Scan survey at your facility. We register the data and create a 3D point cloud.

By importing you existing 3D CAD model into our software, we can check it's position against the point cloud data. As the client, you can set the tolerance allowable for your project.

You can also specifiy what needs to be moved. For example you may only want piping of a certain size diameter, equipment and primary steel to be checked and moved.

Keeping the number of items to be moved to a minimum keeps the costs low for this type of work. As the size of items decreases (for example moving 1" piping), the costs increase to a point where it may be more advantageous to opt for a total 3D as built model built.

It is possible that there may be clients who have an existing model and who have had 3D Laser Scanning performed on their site. If this is the case, get in touch with us as we can use both your existing scan data AND existing model to position your data.

It will be far more econimical to have our experienced 3D CAD Technicians move your model than it would be to get your own Engineers to move it. This eliminates the need to train your Engineers to manipulate 3D Point Cloud Data and also eliminates the possibility of them mis-interpreting what they are looking at.

Current Import Options

We can currently import scan data captured using Z&F, Leica or FARO 3D Laser Scanners

We can import 3D As Designed Models in P.D.M.S. (XML), Microstation, 3D AutoCAD and Intergraph P.D.S. format.

Deliverables

Survey 2 CAD can currently export moved models to the following 3D design packages:

• P.D.M.S. (.xml file)
• AutoCAD (.dxf, .dwg files)
• Microstation (.dgn file)
• P.D.S.
• RealityLinx (.xnf file)
• 3D PlantLinx (.nff file)

Please note that these models will not be intelligent. Any intelligence associated with the model will be lost during the import/ export process. Our model would contain details such as X,Y,Z co-ordinates, outside diameter, length, direction, rating and for some formats connectivity.
