3D Laser Scanning - How Does It Work? Once the targets have been placed and recorded, the 3D Laser Scanning can begin. The scanner revolves 360 degrees, emitting a Laser Beam as it goes. Each time the Laser touches a solid surface, a point is captured. Each 3D Laser Scan contains millions of these points, which create a 3D 'point cloud'. Each 3D Laser Scan takes around 3 minutes to complete. |
Survey 2 CAD offer High Definition 3D Laser Scanning Surveys as an integral part of our 3D As-built data capture services.
The technology involves the 3D Laser Scanning of the desired plant area by the most advanced 3D Laser Scanners available. The captured 3D Laser Scan data is registered against surveyed targets to give high accuracy then processed to combine scans into point clouds and eliminate duplicate Laser Scan points.
The resulting 3D Laser Scan Data can be delivered to the client for use as a point cloud or further processed to generate a 3D As-built CAD model.
We are happy to work closely with clients and tailor our 3D Laser Scanning and 3D As-built CAD modelling solutions to match their requirements.
3D Laser Scanning captures vast amounts of information quickly and is ideal for capturing the as-built conditions of Oil & Gas and Process Plant installations.
Other implementations of 3D Laser Scanning technology include monitoring of critical structures and first time fit fabrications which we carry out regularly.
If you have a possible requirement for our 3D Laser Scanning Surveys, please contact us for our open and honest assessment of your needs.
